Nerd alert! Reader beware!

By day, nothing’s changed. I’m doing the dayjob, tweeting about boring things and trying to make a few people laugh. By night, however, I’ve become a creature of darkness, prowling the streets of Los Angeles in search of prey, or depravity, of blood.

Well, okay, mostly I’ve been watching the framerate stutter and checking my quest log. But that doesn’t sound gothalicious, does it?

I’ve had Vampire: Bloodlines sitting in my Steam account for at least a couple of years, and I stole my brother’s copy when the game first came out. But even with unofficial patches and copious amounts of patience I couldn’t really get myself into it until last week. It’s nice to have a game to stay up late for (after Resident Evil 5 with Shawn, I’ve got the bug again) but I’ll admit: I feel silly pretending to be a vampire, even in the comfort of my own home. When I tried to explain the game to my roommate, he just kind of stared at me.

Dude put a Superman shower curtain up in our bathroom though, so I’m not that worried.

Above: Gameplay vid from when the player first encounters Jeanette, a saucy tart of a vampire who’s just a little insane. Note the dark, thumping electro-goth music: It’s like I’m 12 all over again. Also note that even on my 2007 Macbook Pro running Vista, this game doesn’t run that great. Maybe Vista’s the problem.
